Hong Kong 08
Greetings brothers and sisters.
Seven years ago, I spotted a poster that called me to it three times. Fully responding the third time I discovered that it was about teaching English in China. As a native speaker, I felt this was something I could do. Little did I know then. Since that God inspired encounter with a poster, as I believe it was, I’ve been to China three times and Vietnam twice.
As Christians we like to see what we call fruit. What is fruit? Is it new converts to Christianity? A good spreading of seed? A clearing of the field and preparing the ground for planting? What about nurturing believers so that they will continue on in the missions field, could that be the fruit? I think it is all of the above plus more.
We have seen people come to know God on all five trips. We have planted seeds, many seeds, and we have cleared the field. Of the 38 young Christians that have went to Asia with Coy and I, 50 % have returned to the field, mostly to Asia. Many have gone long term, 2-3 years, some are still there.
Of the nationals that have come to the Lord, One is working with a Christian publisher in China. She is in the area effected by the earthquake encouraging survival, and sharing the message.
These trips are not free, no, no… they cost physical pain and discomfort, sacrifice of loved ones for the summer, and money. All I can ask you to do is pray for me for comfort and no pain this summer as I embarking to Hong Kong. I am leading a team of older adults to teach in Hong Kong this summer. The financial burden is $3500. Thanks to one organization, a faithful organization that has helped me the last five times, I have only $2500 to go. But I was required to send it in already. I am far behind in fund raising.
I am asking you to help send me to China again this summer. The bible tells us, that they cannot hear if someone doesn’t go, and people cannot go if they are not sent. I am asking you to send me. Please keep Coy and my family in your prayers while I am gone, but also pray and ask God if you should financial support me.
For this to happen, I had to lose two jobs for the summer. I am giving up thousands of dollars in income to go. I do so willingly and freely. I tell you this not so you can say, ah look at Paul, but rather understand that I cannot afford to pay for this trip because of such a loss. Secondly, by supporting me, you are going on this trip with me. You are part of this trip and effort.
I ask you. Come with me….
