Emergent Church, Universalism and the Unitrin Universal Church

I have been struggling for some time now. It started with the concept of LOVE. Yes, love. Over the last few years, I've noticed that many of my friends have been using love to such a point that for some it seems as if there is no wrong. At least we cannot correct people because that is not love nor unity. The battle cry is "Truth in Love." which boils down to , "Don't say anything unless it is only couched in love. This really creates a situation in which not much can be said. The second part of the concept is unity. If you do or say anything contrary to mainstream belief, at least mainstream within any one give context, you are creating disunity. Add to the peace. I cannot talk about this because when I do there is no peace.

Holy cow. Okay, step back a bit. In my first church the pastor taught, "No gossiping." His instructions were, any time you say something against a brother or sister you are gossiping. He was so stern in this that no one could bring up any negative information against another without being accused of gossiping. Well, I agree, no one should conduct malicious gossiping. Note the word malicious. In other others, if I see Elder Joe coming out of a local porn shop and I try to tell the pastor, he will get angry with me and tell me to take it up with Joe, citing Mather 18:15. However, many are reticent to bring such things to the individual and it is left unchecked. Sin in the camp because the doctrine against Gossip is taken to the extreme.

Likewise, when brethren cannot discuss differences in doctrine, at times, sin is allowed in the camp. This brings me back to the point of love, unity, peace, and truth. When we cite any or all of these as a reason not to discuss a disagreement we are perhaps allowing sin to continue, or at least be swept under the carpet. Today, there are movements afoot that are changing the face of Christianity, the call, LOVE and UNITY. And anyone who disagrees with them is part of the problem. Before moving on, read "Whatever Christianity."

I would like you to consider reading the following blog post. God does not want to be served. In fact, read further into the archive. I would love to provide you with more links by such people but I won't. I have been in discussions with many people who think along the same line. If your read the archives you will see this author has no use for the Bible. Some of those in the Unitarian church do not have use for it either. Those who are in the Universal movement also do not have need of the bible. At least all can pick and choose what they want to believe in or not. The Emergent's are hot on their heels as they shape shift to continue to bring in new members.

The point is, all of their arguments are couched in the concept of love. If one disagrees they do not know Gods love, or as some have told me, I must not have a relationship with Jesus. In fact, a person who is supposed to be my friend questioned my salvation. REALLY? My argument to my Christian friends and family, beware. There is no such thing as Zen Christianity. You cannot sin, sin, and sin more because you are forgiven. As Hebrews 6:5-7 states,

who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Ending with "Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God."

So I ask you, do you obey God's word? If so, where do you get it from? If from the bible, do you pick and choose those commands and ideas who like while ignoring others? Don't fall into this trap that has been laid out there. Stay true, protect your doctrine which is the word of God.
